Nothing brings my piss to a boil more than when someone excuses plotholes or bad writing with the setting’s fantasy or sci fi nature.
Like in fallout folks say “Who cares if Bethesda writing is bad there are zombies and mutants running around lmao” and it’s like No. Fantastic elements of a universe does not excuse internal inconsistency. If anything, if you’re going to create a completely fantastic universe you have to double down on internal consistency because if you can just make shit up whenever you want there’s zero tension in your narrative.

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say
