This doesn’t seem bad at all.. It’s a cool and interesting development. Things are allowed to get a little muddy, and characters aren’t all pure and perfect.
The orcs were way worse to the draenei than this, yet people didn’t have a problem with that because.. it wasn’t the Light and it wasn’t an Alliance race, maybe? That’s truly the only reasons I can think of for people having a problem with thispeople have an issue with it because they’re using one of the few good heroine characters in an otherwise unlikeable xpac like WoD to do it and turning an entire refuge race built on surviving suffering and genocide through forgiveness and kindness into “crazy zealots” that perpetrate an in-universe version of ethnic cleansing and must be defeated and killed with a snap of their fingers “because they said so”
if you actually read my post you would see that i find the “Light corrupts” angle interesting, but then explain that how they’re doing this with Yrel and the AU draenei is fundamentally flawed. like, please give posts thrice re-reads if your comprehension struggles this much
and people DID and DO have a problem with how the orcs were portrayed in WoD, people were FURIOUS and still ARE that a race they came to love and sympathize with as underdogs who were used by demonic forces and spent years trying to rebuild on azeroth and try to distance themselves from, and learn and rectify, their mistakes and crimes, have actually just Always Been Shitty and that in WoD they didn’t bat an eye at murdering draenei wholesale WITHOUT a demonic influence because one mysterious orc from an alternate reality told them to. in the second chronicles book they even rewrote their lore to say that orc clans attacked draenei carts and cities sometimes out of fear of the new race who never incited any incident against the orcs whatsoever, Just Because. they even added a bit of lore about how the halfbreed orc-draenei race like Lantrestor first existed on Draenor because some orcs captured draenei and that these halfbreeds were born of “unhappy circumstances”
people were and still are angry about this overhaul writing for the orcs. people are angry about this overhaul writing for yrel and the draenei. every. single. SHRED. of WoD. is. BAD. and in the year 2018 when that expansion should have been fridged due to plot contrivance and the primary expansion being nigh inconsequential save guldan’s clunky shoehorned inclusion back into the game they decided to return to it and MAKE IT WORSE
