So many of you pathetic sad people on here, complaining about how you were online bullied through WoW, how people were ~mean~ to you and hurt your feelings. If ignoring and reporting them doesn’t work, if just changing names or characters doesn’t work, I guess that’s just the end, isn’t it? There’s no other place on the internet to RP, no other place on the internet to make friends, nothing else to do but be sad and be depressed and do nothing about it.

Real talk.

It takes Blizzard months to take action against online harassment cases. Take for example the user on Overwatch with over 2000 reports who one of the Blues put on blast for complaining on the overwatch forum. The dude had been silenced for most of the life of the game but still he remained.

When I dealt with harassment in Wrath, Blizzard let it go on for something like 8 months of me doing the right thing before they finally did anything.

Ignore doesn’t prevent physical harassment. Ignore doesn’t prevent imitation harassment. Ignore doesn’t prevent third party assisted harassment. Ignore doesn’t stop people from altering their user id via paid transactions just to fall off ignore. Ignore doesn’t stop people from deleting and recreating their blogs to threaten others. Ignore doesn’t stop people from shit talking on third party sites.

Modern reporting does nothing. It’s all automatic and threshold based because Blizzard literally doesn’t care about harassment. They only care about large scale reporting.

This is why people call shit out on places like Tumblr. To warn others. To raise awareness. To increase the number of reports so Blizzard might actually do a thing.
